Hospital management system and healthcare software development

We build hospital management systems, electronic health records and healthcare platforms that are interoperable by design — not systems that trap your data.

In plain terms: one system for patient records, admissions, billing and pharmacy — so your staff aren't juggling paper and five different programs.

What we build

Healthcare is one of our strongest domains, with two platforms already running in hospitals: Shafa HMS for operations and Shafa EHR for clinical records. Between them they cover nearly every workflow a healthcare provider runs, from the admissions desk to the pharmacy counter.

  • Outpatient queue and appointment management
  • Inpatient admissions, wards and bed occupancy
  • Electronic health and medical records (EHR / EMR)
  • Operation theatre, emergency and radiology
  • Laboratory information systems and specimen workflow
  • Pharmacy, blood bank, store and inventory
  • Billing, revenue, accounts and payroll
  • Telemedicine, video consultation and patient apps

Interoperability comes first

A hospital system that cannot exchange data is a liability. Shafa HMS is built on HL7 FHIR R4 for clinical data exchange, ICD-11 for diagnosis coding and LOINC for laboratory coding, which makes it ready for the DGHS Health MIS, the National Health Data Repository and the Unique Health ID framework. We apply the same standards discipline to custom healthcare builds regardless of country.

  • HL7 FHIR R4 clinical data exchange
  • ICD-11 diagnosis coding
  • LOINC laboratory coding
  • Structured data ready for national health information systems
  • Role-based access with clinical audit trails

AI in clinical workflows

In Shafa EHR the AI assistant reads from the chart, summarises a patient case, and flags what has not yet been recorded for a visit — vitals, physical exam findings, review of systems, outstanding lab reports — prompting clinicians before a consultation closes. AI that reduces documentation burden earns its place; AI that adds clicks does not.

Common questions

Questions about healthcare software

Can you build a hospital management system for our hospital?

Yes. Shafa HMS covers outpatient queues, inpatient admissions and wards, operation theatre, emergency, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, blood bank, inventory, billing, accounts and payroll. It can be deployed as a product and configured to your departments, or extended where your workflows differ.

Is the system FHIR and HL7 compliant?

Yes. Shafa HMS is built on HL7 FHIR R4 for clinical data exchange, with ICD-11 for diagnosis coding and LOINC for laboratory coding. This is structural rather than an export layer added afterwards.

What is the difference between HMS and EHR?

A hospital management system covers the whole operation — admissions, wards, theatre, pharmacy, lab, inventory, billing and payroll. An electronic health record focuses on the clinical record itself: patient history, documentation, prescribing and clinical decision support. Shafa HMS and Shafa EHR address these respectively and work together.

Can you build patient-facing apps as well?

Yes. Alongside the hospital systems themselves, we build the patient side: appointment booking, video consultation, prescription access and patient portals, on web and mobile. These connect to the same record, so patients and clinicians are never looking at different information.
